East Hants Black Penguins

East Hants versus Cole Harbour Wings

We started out our weekend with a game against the Cole Harbour White Wings on Saturday. Our team was flying out there! Yuna Doucet was using her lightning speed all over the ice and was buzzing around their net all game to win player of the game for her side. On the other end Fletcher Krauch dominated puck possession early but wasnt able to score. The coaches told him to be patient, wait until he was close to the net to shoot because he was dangling the team... a few shifts later he started lighting the lamp (scoring goals) to win player of the game! Both sides were on fire!

On Sunday we had our team photos and an all-star skills challenge at practice which included the million dollar shot challenge (shooting from center ice into a small target), a 3 puck shootout, and agility cones stick handling challenge. Right after practice we were on our way to Cole Harbour on the snowy roads.

Our game against ColeHarbour Red Wings was tough one, down 2 players we had to go against a tough red wings team who had 2 full lines. Our team showed a lot of heart not giving up even though we were tired and only had one spare! We battled and worked together as a team showing true grit at the end of a busy weekend and busy day.

Cameron Wilson shined by never giving up on the puck and using her excellent 2 way game to steal the puck from opponents and turn them into scoring chances for our team to win player of the game for her side!

On the other side, Erik Gaudet fresh off of watching The Mighty Ducks took about 20 slapshots Fulton Reid style to score a hat trick while playing shut down defense on the back end!

We brought a new award for the game called the "work horse" award, Raphael Siewert won it this game keeping his feet moving all game like an absolute engine! Honorable mention to Lila Brown who was absolutely buzzing, skated super hard and made a big impact on the game after listening to coaching direction was able to create a number of turnovers with poke checks and being aggressive on the play!

Great work this weekend team! The coaching team was impressed with what we saw, and how our players were able to use the coaching tips to better our game.
